When Should My Drapes Be Cleaned?
A good rule-of-thumb is to clean drapes approximately every two years. A recent survey by SERVPRO disclosed that the average customer believes drapes should be cleaned when they look dirty. Depending on your heating system, the amount of smokers in the home, and other factors, drapes may not show soil for two to six years. The oily atmospheric soil will gradually cause the fabric to deteriorate. Often, direct sunlight is unjustly blamed for this. You may triple the life of your draperies through professional cleaning, which is relatively inexpensive compared to replacement costs.
When your draperies need cleaning, make certain they are dry cleaned ONLY. Only a small percentage of materials can be laundered. If in doubt, call us for advice. Be discriminating in your choice of professional dry cleaners. Some cleaners have equipment designed for clothes cleaning, while others have equipment specifically designed for draperies.
SERVPRO of North Sarasota has an exclusive process of dry cleaning draperies right in your home. There’s no need to have your home or office exposed while your draperies are out being cleaned. We inject a specially formulated solvent into your drapery under pressure and extract the chemical, leaving your drapes clean. This special process results in no damage or shrinkage to the material. Most importantly, you will get quality cleaning at a reasonable price.

Twas The Night Before Christmas- SERVPRO Style
Twas The Night Before Christmas
Twas the Night before Christmas SERVPRO Style
Twas the night before Christmas, when all were at home,
No phones were ringing, not even a pay phone.
The technicians were waiting at the office with care,
In case an emergency, we soon would be there.
The franchises were closed for the holiday cheer,
While only emergency crews were waiting near.
The owners at home pulling doubles at that,
while I just came home wanting to nap.
When of course from nowhere out came a ringing,
My phone goes off a ring a ding dinging.
And out to the door I flew like the Flash,
Put on SERVPRO gear and grabbed my food stash.
Being midnight it was dark and weary
The moon was a glow, which made it quite cheery.
Pulling up to the office and what should appear,
My boss and his truck like Santa’s reindeer.
With him as the driver I knew we’d be fast,
gathering our gear for the moments to last.
More rapid than tigers our technicians they came,
Our boss whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Jason! Now Jamie! Now Taras and Paulo!
On, Brian! On Michele, On Tessa and then go!
To the back of the warehouse! To the back of the wall!
The technicians drove away! They drove away! Drove away all!"
As quick as our carpets clean as they dry,
When they meet with an obstacle, Even tall as the sky.
So up to the house stoop our technicians they flew,
With a truck full of equipment, and owner Jeff too.
And then, in snap, I heard near my face,
Turning on a few fans and one big/ Huge DH.
As I drew on my sheet, and was turning around,
I see down the hall, the technicians they found.
A spot on the roof pouring water down to the floor,
The technicians they shouted, NO WATER, NO MORE!
As Jeff grabbed some fans he had placed by the wall,
And he looked and saw the roof was about to fall.
His eyes-how they widened! His face wasn’t merry!
He knew that the Home owners saw this as scary!
As quick as we got there we set up our space
As the home owners frown turned to a smile on their face.
The hose to extract he held in his hands,
And the guys they placed down more fans.
A few more DH’s and fans were the chatter,
The noise may be bothersome, but drying such matter!
The clients were happy with the thoughtfulness and cheer
and knew who to call for emergency water removal this year.
A wink of his eye and a nod of his head,
Soon let the clients know they had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And extracted the water, to find mold where they lurk.
Then placing the hose down, and remediating more
he finished the job to head out the door!
He sprang to his truck and our crew gave a show,
And yelled “When an issue arises call SERVPRO”.
As our technicians gathered and drove out of sight,
They wished them well…. A Merry Christmas, good-night!
